Salsa Latina System & Syllabus
Salsa Dance Class Syllabus & Style

Our unique Salsa Latina Foundation System is built on modern linear Salsa fundamentals, developed and refined with inspiration from some of the world’s top Salsa dancers. Rooted in New York Salsa principles, our style blends influences from LA, Puerto Rican, Spanish, Cuban, and Afro traditions—forming what’s known as Porto Style and New York Style.
We specialise in both On1 (Salsa) and On2 (Mambo), focusing on improvised, social street Salsa where strong leading and following are essential. Every move we teach is designed to be leadable and followable, ensuring you can dance confidently with anyone.

The Salsa Latina Method

Warm-up & Shines
Classes begin with a warm-up followed by Salsa footwork, known as shines. These build timing, balance, coordination, and musicality while helping you develop your own style. Our syllabus features an extensive collection of New York Shines, created by top New York, Cuban and Puerto Rican dancers over many years.
Partnerwork
After shines, we move into partnerwork. We start with the fundamentals—your building blocks for all turn patterns and combinations. Think of it like constructing a house: a solid foundation allows you to progress quickly and confidently. Our program follows a clear, structured path, advancing step by step rather than teaching random “moves of the week.”
